We decided to continue to pray throughout the weekend, but felt great peace about moving forward with meeting Janice. There were still some fears and concerns, but we knew God was leading us. On Saturday, I began doing the finishing touches of getting the house fully ready. A little bit of nesting was in order! This involved making sure all cleaning supplies were locked up, as well as all our tools, paint, and outdoor gardening supplies. This was all part of being a "foster home," which is required by the state until the adoption would become finalized. That process can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years or so.
Because I was unsure of a few items, I asked Wayne Mott (a friend and my former boss at FCCA) to drop by and help me be sure I was doing everything correctly. As we were checking over things in the garage, we discussed the disclosure meeting and some of my concerns, and he was so great at explaining things and helping me work through them. During our conversation, in flew a beautiful red dragonfly! It stayed around for quite a bit and came in and out. I've truly never seen one around my home, but this one came in the garage with us as we were talking about Janice! Once again, I felt God's direction and presence. Later that weekend, I talked with another friend who is a social worker for 10 & 11 year old girls, and she as well gave me some great insights! She cried with me as I told her how God was working and prayed with me. It was a sweet time. I also spoke on the phone with another friend that had adopted. Because it was hard to talk in the house with the noise of my kids, I was outside in front of our home on my cell. As we talked, our resident dragonfly came once again and stayed close by me on a bush. I enjoyed watching it and having it around me. I wondered if God just so wanted me to feel His presence and His surety that we were on the right track that He kept sending me this picture of His presence.
By the end of the weekend, everything was ready for us to be "home inspection" worthy and ready for her to visit when the time came. By Monday morning, we were so ready to call our social worker and let him know that we were ready to meet Janice! He talked with her social worker and we set up a time to meet her at her home on Thursday, June 23rd at 2pm.
